Sometimes, perhaps even too often, we underestimate the value of things in life.   Life is challenging, and full of things that require our attention.  Sometimes our attention is divided among those things without any obvious reason for the hierarchy.

Many of these things in our lives are important, some of them like shelter, food, and other basic needs are more obvious than others.   Sadly, some of them only become obvious when they are missing.   Health is one of those things.  Physical health can have a dramatic impact on a persons well-being.   Being unable to meet the challenges of daily life as a result of a sickness or injury can suddenly, and blatantly impact everything else that happens.   It isn't hard to believe, for example, that an injury to a finger or a hand or a foot can lead to a change in attitude, or even reduce the ability to participate in or enjoy other aspects of life.

Physical health and bodily health are intertwined.   A person who is not operating at their peak in one, rarely operates well in the other.   A viscous cycle can begin leading to further injury; further mental duress.

That is one of the many reasons that it is a good idea to take care of both your physical health, and your mental health.  You should exercise reasonably to keep your body in shape, and you should exercise your mind to keep your spirit in shape.  Occasionally you will need to see a specialist for your body, even for a check-up, and occasionally you should see a counselor for your mind.

If you are injured, you should seek help from a professional who will listen to your story, and help you to get better, and make a plan to stay better.

Your body and your mind deserve it.   And it is always preferable to be proactive, because you may not realize what you have lost, until it is gone.
